Monday, Wednesday, Friday @ Cady Way
4:30 pm to 5:30 pm
The Flippers group is for our younger swimmers who are just starting out. The Flippers practice for a shorter period of time, working to master all 4 strokes (freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke). Flip turns and diving are also taught. The goal is for the swimmers to become comfortable in the water, swim continuously for several lengths of the pool, and be introduced to competitive swimming.
As swimmers progress and master the basics, they will have an opportunity to begin entering USA Swim meets and eventually move up to our Fins and Junior groups to be more competitive.
Megan Hansen is the head coach for the Flippers. (Email Megan: firstname.lastname@example.org)
Megan grew up in Atlanta Georgia playing soccer and working toward her black belt. She started swimming as a freshman in high school and fell in love with the sport. Joining SwimAtlanta her sophomore year propelled her toward college swimming. After making 5 All-American times and helping her team to County and State Championships, she went to swim for The Georgia Institute of Technology. While swimming, she earned a degree in Communications and earned a spot on the Top 10 lists in 200/400 Freestyle Relays and in the 50/100 freestyle events.
As a coach, she has experience with the Yellow Jacket Swim Camp and giving private lessons. Now with the Blue Dolfins, she assists with the Senior Group and leads the Flippers group. She also gives private lessons to younger swimmers.
